The food is good, large servings! The salmon full salad is definitely 2 meals. The service was okay, the girl seemed like she hated her job. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. Overall enjoyed it
Told Big City that mom chose them for her 89th Birthday dinner because the last time she was there she enjoyed the Golden Fried Pork Chop with fresh mushroom gravy, steamed vegetables with garlic mashed potatoes. My initial phone call. with Lori was upbeat and friendly. Place looked clean, at the hour I went had a few customers. What surprised me was a dessert offered to celebrate mom's birthday, I thought it was very sweet, mom was happy but too full to eat it, will have it tomorrow. Provided extra gravy as requested.
I always get the boneless kalbi. It didn't disappoint this time either. My husband tried the meatloaf with lots of gravy smothering his rice & meatloaf. He said it was surprisingly very good. We had the bread pudding for dessert. The haupia-macadamia sauce was so good.! Will definitely get that again! They must have some new folks. It was nearing 8p and noticed a server rolling up the floor mats, then mopping the floor, & then serving plates of food without washing his hands. That didn't seem to be very sanitary. Service was pleasant although we had to wait longer than we normally did for our food to be served. Patrons who arrived after us got their food faster. Perhaps it's because of what I'd ordered. It also took a long time to get the dessert, too, after we ordered.
I LOVE the breakfast at Big City Diner Waipio.I LOVE the garlic fries meatloaf brown rice Kim chee fried rice a lil heavy salmon salad pololo burger and the French toast sandwich breakfast platter They are friendly fast and the chef knows how to make an egg My main thing are eggs because I love them dearly like he makes the best poach egg and best over easy eggs and egg whites are all delicioso And the coconut frosting for haupia pancakes off the charts da best I could eat that coconut syrup which looks totally different then everyone else because it's made with LOVE which makes the food taste extra good My only problem is they don't open til 10am weekdays and we have to support our local businesses Much Love to The Chef making breakfast and everything else delicious Yummy in My Tummy!
I will definitely go back. This seems like a place that gets common casual dining staples right. Not it the mood for something super fancy? Like moderate noise and a comfortable environment? This place is probably where you want to be. The host was very kind. I was greeted and seated almost right away. The tap to pay machine was down. If fact, both tap to pay machines were down..... so take a card or cash. I ordered "to-go" Chili Cheese beef dogs! They were very tasty. I was glad they just put the cheese chili in a bowl.
